| Salisbury’s High Street estate agents,
Myddelton & Major, have come top in an independent
mystery shopper test involving six Salisbury agents.
Salisbury
was visited by a mystery shopper from “Sold Out”
magazine, which describes itself as “a survival
guide for the property industry”, in April. Myddelton
& Major came top in the test, scoring 27 points
out of a possible thirty, beating five other firms.
The test involved a single male house-hunter from London
who visited six agents. His cover story was that he
was relocating from London to Salisbury and was looking
to buy a one-bedroom flat.
The mystery shopper assessed all six Salisbury estate
agents on:
- first impressions;
- guidance given;
- market knowledge;
- information provided about the local area;
- quality of service on the telephone service, and;
- website.
First impressions of Myddelton & Major were good
and the mystery shopper noted: “a very attractive
office with exposed beams and wooden panelling. A warm,
welcoming agent ensured I felt engaged right away”.
Myddelton & Major were praised for providing appropriate
advice and guidance on the customer’s situation
and the local property market in general. “They
understood the situation right away, explained what
they had on their books, what would be suitable for
a single person and what was not,” he reported.
The quality of Myddelton & Major’s property
particulars were much better than other agents, gaining
points for including floor plans and good quality photographs.
Myddelton & Major’s particulars were praised
for “good photographic reproduction, not at all
flimsy — and floor plans!”
Finally, Myddelton & Major’s scored top marks,
five out of five, for their website (www.myddeltonmajor.co.uk).
The mystery shopper reported that the site was “a
nice, simple site with plenty of pictures and particulars
of the individual properties.”
Paul Cadge, Partner at Myddelton & Major, said
he was very pleased to come out top in the report. “This
was an unannounced visit from someone who appeared to
be a genuine customer. We didn’t know we were
going to be visited and treated him no differently from
any other potential buyer. It was re-assuring to know
that our service scored so highly in all respects.
“We pride ourselves on the quality of service
we provide to our clients. However, our job is to sell
homes and we make sure that we do a thorough and professional
job whenever a prospective purchaser walks through the
door. I think that is the secret of our success.”
